AU EVENTS
Town Hall on Campus Safety – Monday, November 23 – 7-8 p.m. – MGC 203/205
This town hall is a great opportunity to make your voice heard on any campus safety issue or answer any question you have! We can also log anonymous questions and concerns. Please come enjoy free pizza and voice your thoughts! Hosted by SU Student Government and Public Safety.
Winter Food Drive – Wednesdays and Fridays – 2-5 p.m. – MGC Lobby
One half of children in D.C. are at risk of hunger. You can help change this. AU’s Health, Poverty and Education class is hosting a food drive for the Capital Area Food Bank. Bring non-perishable items to benefit this project until December 4th.
AIDS Awareness Week events at AU – November 29 – December 5
We have a variety of events happening next week to recognize AIDS Awareness week. Check out next week’s edition of Feminist Followings for all the details.
Redefining Perceptions of Africa through Art – Monday, November 30 – 7 p.m. – Kay Spiritual Life Center
Performances and discussion from five African poets and musicians kick off AU’s AIDS Awareness Week. This event will feature performances from Mahala, Bassey Ikpi, Femi the Dri Fish, and Galileo. DC EVENTS
“God, Me… HIV?” Film Screening—Monday, November 30 – 6:30-9:30 p.m. – The Newseum, 555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Join the National Medical Association for its red carpet premiere of “God, Me… HIV?”, an adaptation of Devin T. Robinson X’s one-man show “God Did Not Give Me HIV.” There will be free HIV testing at the event. World AIDS Day Demonstration and Rally – Tuesday, December 1 – Noon – Downtown
Stand up to demand action on the health crisis of HIV/AIDS. DC Fights Back is holding a demonstration on World AIDS Day to demand change to end this epidemic. Intern with the Feminist Majority Foundation this spring! Join our team and contribute to our work by organizing events, researching information, attending rallies, monitoring legislation, and more! FMF seeks highly motivated undergraduate students with a passion for feminist issues and an interest in public policy and political science. All who are interested are encouraged to apply.
